ACHIEVEMENTS
MCE has achieved significant successes of which the following
show the quality, leadership and commitment of its staff and
policies:
- MCE broke a 7 day world record 6 years ago on pot turn around and set a new record of 3 days.
- Contracted by BHPBiliton Hillside Aluminium to change 3 pots a week – currently capable of changing 8 pots a week.
- Completed a project in Mozal scheduled for 23 weeks in 5 weeks .
- Received safety awards at Hillside Aluminium.
1) Sealing jaws installation in 576 electrolytic cells
2) Booster section upgrade 36 electrolytic cells
3) Maintenance contractor of the month, May 2004, Nov 2004, April 2005 and Sept 2005
- Pot Prepared, Energized and started up 140 reduction cells in less than two months in 2001, at BHPBilliton Hillside Aluminium after a freeze-up.
- Pot Prepared, Energized and started up Bayside Aluminium electrolytic cells for A room after a freeze-up in 2005.
- Contributed in improving quality of Hillside Aluminium metal from 1800ppm to 800ppm by doing Pot Tending in 2003.
- Received a Safety/Quality Award from Ticor now called Exxaro for 2006
- Nominated by BHPBilliton and won a Zululand Chamber of Business “Business Excellence Award” for BEST SMME/ENTREPRENEUR in 2002 and again in 2006 .
