COMPANY OVERVIEW

MCE located at Richards Bay on the North Coast of Kwazulu - Natal, South Africa, has since it’s formation in 1996 become leaders in:

- Construction
- Fabrication
- Machining of component

MCE was started by Dave Blackmore (Mechanical engineer) more than 11 years ago as a sole proprietor. He was previously employed as a production supervisor at BHPBilliton Hillside Aluminium smelter during the start-up and commissioning phase. Due too strong growth there was a need to expand and Dave and Bob Spicer (a registered Engineer) who has 50 years experience in the construction/engineering field, became partners. In 1998 MCE was registered as a (Pty) Ltd.

In 2001 Phiwo Thango (Chemical Engineer) bought into the business. He was also previously employed by BHPBiliton Hillside Aluminium as a Production Superintendent. MCE is accredited by EMEX as a BEE Company with BEE Rating of x % which is a level x contributor.

MCE shareholding and staff composition of 160 permanent positions and about 100 contractors (depending on the volume of work) represents the demographics of South Africa from unskilled labour to the shareholder /director level.
